"Rothem" comes from the greek word for "broom tree".
It was under the broom tree that Elijah found shelter after being chased into the desert. (1 Kings 19:3-8) It was under the broom tree that Elijah poured his heart out to God and found rest, comfort and food provided by angels who attended to him. Refreshed and renewed, Elijah then traveled 40 days on that physical and spiritual nourishment.
RothemHouse, through God's provision, aims to Equip, Refresh and Connect missionaries as they seek rest and spiritual renewing with God before they continue their journey.

Our Vision

Our vision is to Equip, Refresh and Connect Christian missionaries and their families through hospitality, leadership training and pastoral care so that their capacity is increased to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

To meet this calling RothemHouse Ministry serves the growing number of African missionaries who are being sent as well as like-minded western missionaries traveling to Kenya. In Nairobi we provide a place for our guests to rest and recover and be encouraged and equipped for ministry.

Equip

RothemHouse Ministry partners with other christian missional and teaching organizations and individuals so that we can equip missionaries with leadership- and theological training, counseling, and practical missional teaching. We aim to provide space for christian conferences, seminars and retreats.

Refresh

It is our goal that each guest finds their time at RothemHouse a time of spiritual renewing regardless of whether it is for a few hours or a few weeks. We meet practical needs through quality hospitality and provide space to reflect, pray, and spend time with God.

Connect

Through partnerships RothemHouse Ministry helps connect groups and individuals to better share resources, encourage one another and grow in capacity. We are especially excited to be part of the growing movement that partners churches and East African missionaries with the goal of reaching unreached people groups in and out of Africa. Social media connects a global partner base with missionaries that pass through RothemHouse. In this way missionaries receive prayer, encouragement and practical support through a global campaign. Likewise, our partners are encouraged to hear about the many ways God is at work around the world.
